London Fields is situated in the eastern borough of Hackney. It is not only the name of an area of London, but a park, dated 1540, too. It contains a cricket pitch, lido (the only heated outdoor 50 metre swimming pool in London), grass areas, tennis courts, a table tennis table, a small BMX track, and two children’s play areas. A cycle path runs from the Pub on the Park to Broadway Market. The annual Dunwich Dynamo night cycle ride takes place there. And the first cricket game played on the park was documented to be in 1802. London Fields area has a railway station that links it to Hackney Downs and to Liverpool Street in the City.

Stepney is an area that grew out of a medieval village around St Dunstan’s church and the 15th century ribbon development of Mile End Road, and now is a conservation area. The area was rapidly built up in the 19th century. In Arbour Square, the eastern side of Stepney Green, and the streets around Matlock Street some Georgian and Victorian architecture buildings have survived. Stepney’s oldest church is St Dunstan’s, founded in 923. However, the present building dates from the 15th century.

The south of the isle, opposite Greenwich, was once known as North Greenwich, now applied to the area around the Millennium Dome on the Greenwich Peninsula.

The Isle of Dogs is a former island in the East End of London. It is bounded on its east, south and west sides by one of the largest meanders in the River Thames. The area used to be the one of the highest concentration of council housing in England. Now it is best known as the location of the prestigious Canary Wharf office complex. The Canary Wharf Tower, also known as One Canada Square, with ist 244 metres is the tallest habitable building in Britain.
